GameCo Marketing Plan Analysis

Data-Driven Insights for Budget Optimization

Problem Overview:

As part of my data analytics bootcamp, I conducted an in-depth market analysis for GameCo, a fictional video game company, to simulate a real-world business scenario. Based on the given scenario in October 2016, GameCo's executive board was developing its marketing plan for 2017, assuming that sales across key geographic regions—North America, the European Union, and Japan—had remained consistent.

Objectives

My role as a data analyst was to validate the assumption using historical sales data and provide actionable insights to optimize GameCo’s marketing budget allocation:

- Validate the assumption that sales remained stable across regions.

- Identify trends and fluctuations in market share.

- Provide data-driven recommendations for marketing budget redistribution.

The Problem Statement

Despite GameCo’s assumption of stable sales trends, my analysis revealed significant market shifts in the gaming industry, particularly between 2012 and 2016. The North American market lost its dominance, while European market leadership emerged. Japan, once a strong player, showed signs of decline.
